Bankinitiativet Hållbar Byggbransch (The Banking Initiative Sustainable Construction Industry) is a collaboration founded by Danske Bank, Nordea, Handelsbanken, SBAB, SEB, and Swedbank and the Savings Banks, developed in close cooperation with the industry organizations Byggherrarna and Byggföretagen.
The collaboration was formalized in the fall of 2019 after around thirty stakeholders from the banking, real estate, and construction sectors worked together to draft banking requirements for construction financing. At that time, the banks gained significant insight into the rising serious crime in the construction industry and a better understanding of the need for digital solutions for monitoring, control, and reporting across the entire supply chain.
An important process on the construction site is pre-registration and control to ensure that suppliers meet the requirements and guidelines established by the initiative.
This requires digital control systems to monitor subcontractors at all levels. The banks' Special Terms include requirements for control systems and project reports, mandatory pre-registration, and ensuring that all subcontractors pay Swedish corporate taxes, social security contributions, and do not have outstanding debts with the Swedish Enforcement Authority.
The goal is to increase the use of control systems, enhance transparency, and boost the proportion of pre-registered and background-checked contractors, which in the long term contributes to fair competition and reduced workplace crime.
With our Plus Package, you ensure compliance with the requirements of the Banking Initiative.
