Anette makes sure drivers get home safe

Bonäshamn, about a mile north of Järpen, has already had the first snowfall of the year and Olsson och Hedström Älvservice are working flat out to renovate and build sluice gates for the hydroelectricity industry which today is responsible for around 50% of Sweden’s energy production.

A tough job

It’s a tough job that isn’t always without its risks, especially when employees go out on a job alone. Telephone pole are spread thin in this sparsely populated area, and it can be difficult to call for help in case of an accident.

As luck would have it, administrator Anette can keep an eye on all the drivers who are out on jobs. Thanks to their use of the Infobric Driver’s Log, it’s easy for Anette to get an overview of where all her colleagues are via a map that is updated in real-time.

" I usually keep an eye things all day long. It makes things safer for both me and the drivers, especially when they’re out on a job alone. "
– Anette, Olsson och Hedström Älvservice

Nothing overlooked

Anette can see whether a car is still moving, and when employees are on their way back at the end of the working day. But it wasn’t the map view that made Olsson och Hedström invest in an electronic driver’s log from Infobric from the very beginning.

“It helps save us time because trips are registered automatically. Otherwise, it’s easy to forget which trips you did when and exactly how long your were driving for.
Drivers don’t have to write things down manually, and I don’t have to go around chasing up driver’s logs. It’s a really simple system that works.”

Anette also highlights one other safety aspect – the anti-theft system. If a vehicle is ever stolen, you can see exactly where it is. Even if somebody rips out the OBD unit, the internal battery will last for a few hours more so that even then the vehicle can be recovered.
